Well I better hope the Abarth and DS4 hold up for a while longer....

My guess is that all this craziness will die down in the next few months. The exit doesn’t happen for several years. That is when shit will truly hit the fan. How is the Abarth holding up? I think I may get one as my first ‘real’ car (i.e. <30 years old)

You have 2 fun cars that (hopefully) you own outright. I have no cars - so stick with your program.

My problem is that most of our income (and I am not ashamed to admit this) comes from my partner. He runs his own web solutions company and a lot of his biggest clients are in the ecommerce and entertainment businesses, he is worried that clients will start tightening their belts sooner rather than later (like in 2008) and his large increase in revenue and profit that we have enjoyed the last couple of years will stop.

As for the Abarth, it's holding up well tbh, as is the DS4, though the Abarth is 6 this year and the DS4 5. While I love them both dearly, how long can I expect French and Italian cars to stay fault for???

Well the plan at the moment is for us and most of our friends to sell up and buy a Greek island between us, all move there and declare it as a sovereign nation, that's doable right???

All this means is you need to buy a motorbike or two instead. More fun per £

Should be doable, Greece wants your money anyway! You can call it Abarth Island, with the capital city being named Carlo, after the founder of Abarth. And it needs a racetrack, of course.

Just out of curiousity, why the GLA? Personally I'd think the comparable A Class would be better handling and more economical, although if you plan on doing any soft-roading a GLA might be more necessary. Hang in there, your current cars have plenty of life yet so don't worry too much about whatever happens in the near future. As with this American presidential election, now is a great time to 1.) Do your part to not screw up democracy and 2.) Get the hell out of the way after step 1.)

Why the GLA? Because we think they look more interesting than the A, we like the higher ride height of the DS4, it’s less common than the A (A classes are everywhere, I know 3 people with them!), they tend to be better equipped (we will be buying used) etc.
While our current cars have got plenty of life left in them, our previous cars (both Mazda’s btw) started to get lots of niggling faults once they where over 6 years old and we can’t be bothered with cars once they start needing more than just normal servicing. Plus we both work hard and like to have new cars every 3-4 years.
I don’t even want to think about the US elections today! lol

Oh, got it! The buying used part makes it all make more sense. I’m surprised that you guys had Mazdas with issues at 6 years old, just out of curiosity, what sort of problems? Our fleet of Volvos and a Honda always has minor problems here and there but I guess it makes it more endearing ;)

Haha, these elections are going to be a mess, I’m glad I’m not at the voting age yet so I can just stay out of the way. At this point it’s not the best candidate, it’s the least worst.
